SOFHT Annual Lecture, Lunch & Awards 2021




The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology is pleased to announce that the Annual Lecture, Lunch & Awards will be going ahead on Thursday 18th November 2021 at The Brewery, 52 Chiswell Street, London.

Over the years, the Society’s Lecture has gained a reputation for covering highly topical subjects and this year will be no exception.

We are delighted that Dame Prue Leith DBE, has agreed to present ‘Safe & Hygienic is not Enough’, where she will challenge the audience to consider the irony of our love of celebrity chefs on telly while stuffing our faces with cheap junk.

Prue is a British-South African restaurateur, chef, caterer, television presenter/broadcaster, businesswoman, journalist, cookery writer and novelist. She is Chancellor of Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh but is probably best known for her role as a judge on The Great British Bake Off.

We’re also pleased to announce that Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards will be hosting The SOFHT Awards during lunch this year, with Belle Noir providing after lunch entertainment.

SOFHT’s chosen Charity of the Year to be promoted on the day this year is the Anaphylaxis Campaign.

The Anaphylaxis Campaign is the only UK charity which supports severely allergic consumers and works with the wider food industry stakeholders to provide information, access to research and training in the field of allergic reactions. The charity was founded over 30 years ago to promote understanding and awareness of food allergy and has gained an enviable reputation for providing pragmatic, practical and science-based information helping to shape the food allergy awareness landscape. With no external funding, the Campaign is reliant on donations and fund-raising activities to fund their invaluable work and SOFHT are proud to be associated with this effort.
