SOCIETY History
The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology is a voluntary organisation set up in 1979 by a group of professional people to represent the interests and views of everyone involved in food hygiene across all disciplines.
The SCM programme was established in partnership with many leading companies from the UK food and service industries.

The office was relocated to Middleton, Warwickshire to enable SOFHT to hold breakfast club meetings and Training Academy courses on site. The office was also accessible for members to use for their external meetings.
The Technical helpline was launched in partnership with the Supporting Company Member, NSF International
Breakfast Clubs were launched as an informal networking opportunity to provide practical fact-finding forums. Designed to fit around those people who may not have the time in their busy schedule to attend a full conference but have the desire to understand a subject significant in their role/company.
The prestigious annual lunch was moved to the newly refurbished Savoy in London having become one of the key events in the food industry calendar
The SOFHT Student Award was launched, giving students the chance to show they have got what it takes in of one of the world’s most important industries
The Forums were launched to help members stay alert to changes and trends, held with industry leading experts to guide them through the minefield of information, offering solutions and guidance to compliance
Held online throughout the COVID-19 pandemic on topics such as pest control, PPE & social distancing, food service & hospitality, & cleaning & disinfection, with a panel of food industry experts.
